A woman gave birth on Tuesday 30 May in a street in Madrid’s Villaverde district thanks to the help of a nurse, as reported by Emergencias Madrid on its Twitter account.
The unexpected birth took place in calle Villajoyosa number 85. The 28-year-old woman’s waters broke and contractions began without time to react. A nurse happened to be passing by and helped the woman, who was close to her due date.
After being alerted by a neighbour, the Samur-Protección Civil medical team arrived at the scene and cut the umbilical cord. Both mother and daughter are in good health and have been transferred to the maternity ward of the Hospital 12 de Octubre.
