History
Unión Radio was created on 19 December 1924 and Radio Madrid was inaugurated on 19 June of the same year. The main radio stations that were created at that time were successively integrated into Unión Radio, forming the most important radio group of the 1930s, which after the Civil War became Cadena SER.
It achieved fame during the dictatorship with entertainment programmes and radio serials such as Matilde, Perico y Periquín, Ama Rosa, Simplemente María and La Saga de los Porretas, which are now part of the history of several generations of Spaniards until the appearance and spread of television.
As of 19 February 2005, Cadena SER had 247 stations of its own and 194 associated stations.
In March 2008 it began broadcasting as a radio channel on digital terrestrial television on Sogecable’s multiplex on channel 67, with national coverage.
