Amid protests by farmers and ranchers across Europe against the Green Pact and Agenda 2030, the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday passed the Nature Restoration Bill, a law that criminalises farmers, ranchers and fishermen.
The text, which was presented by bureaucrats as an essential measure within the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy and will have major – and negative – repercussions for the rural world, food sovereignty and the energy sector, was adopted with 329 votes in favour, 275 against and 24 abstentions. In the European People’s Party 25 MEPs voted in favour, 27 abstained and 10 abstained.
Von der Leyen’s flagship project “Nature Restoration” was approved. The death knell for agriculture, livestock and fisheries, executed by the fanatical European consensus. A very sad day. It is even more urgent to vote for VOX to reverse everything on 10 June”, said the head of the VOX delegation in the European Parliament, Jorge Buxadé.
For his part, Socialist MEP César Luena pointed out that “the EU has the first law on Nature Restoration in its 70-year history”. “The restoration of ecosystems is essential to fight climate change and tackle the biodiversity crisis,” he added.
