VOX MEP Hermann Tertsch has once again denounced in the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, the complicity of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, and the Brussels elites with the Cuban dictatorship.

In the debate, Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen defended the Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement with Cuba to maintain “critical but constructive” relations with the regime of Miguel Díaz-Canel. “In the current context of crisis in Cuba and global instability, the objectives of the agreement remain relevant,” said Urpilainen, who said the agreement allows for “frank” talks with the island on a range of issues.

“We are at the height of hypocrisy with regard to Cuba. There is no blockade, there is no blockade. There is an embargo that does not prevent the United States from feeding Cuba”, Tertsch told the plenary. “Cuba is a disgrace for the Western world and especially for the European Union, where it has many accomplices, who are the ones who maintain this criminal and murderous dictatorship that not only has been brutally crushing its entire population for more than 65 years, but also spreading the poison of narco-terrorism throughout the continent”.

He recalled that Cuba has managed to create “these bloody situations of tragedy and dictatorship in other countries”. “It has done nothing more than export misery, hunger, pain, terrorism and blood. That is what Cuba has done, and this is full of protectors and the first protector, who should be here, is called Borrell”, added the VOX MEP. “That is why Cuba is a scandal and we need to put an end to this unworthy agreement, which on top of that finances this murderous dictatorship”, he concluded.
