ACS Group’s US subsidiaries win two contracts worth 625 million euros
ACS Group, chaired by Florentino Pérez, has won two contracts in the United States for a combined amount of 670 million dollars (625 million euros) through its US subsidiaries Turner Construction Company and Flatiron, according to the company.
Turner has been selected for the $445 million expansion of Des Moines International Airport (the capital of Iowa), a contract that includes the construction of a new terminal to increase the number of gates available from 12 to 18 while transforming the city’s gateway for both visitors and business travellers.
The new terminal will replace and expand security areas, gate operations, passenger arrivals and departures, the latest baggage handling systems and enhanced dining and retail options.
Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed in 2026 and additional demolition and renovation is expected to continue until 2027.
ACS subsidiary Turner awarded contract in New Jersey
Meanwhile, the New Jersey Department of Property Management and Construction has awarded E.E. Cruz, jointly owned by Flatiron and Turner Construction, $251 million (almost 235 million euros) worth of resiliency work as part of the nearly $298 million Hudson River design and reconstruction project.
The contract calls for the construction of 9,600 linear feet of flood walls, the installation of 28 floodgates and landscaping modifications to Harborside Park (to be renamed Cove Park), which borders the Hudson River.
The floodgates and other barrier structures will be incorporated into Harborside Park through seating, lighting, planters and art murals, creating an aesthetically appealing and highly functional buffer.
The Hudson River project is E.E. Cruz’s second major water resiliency project, joining the Battery Park City Authority’s north/west resiliency project awarded in 2022 to a joint venture of E.E. Cruz and Turner.
