itelloU.S. President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s immigration strategy, referencing the border turmoil in Ceuta earlier this summer. Speaking at a White House press briefing, Trump accused the Spanish government of utter “inaction” after what he described as “tens of thousands of migrants” crossing from Morocco to “flood the country.”
Trump pointed to the events in the North African enclave—alongside recent unrest in France—to defend his own administration’s hardline border posture. During his remarks, the U.S. leader linked social friction across Europe directly to migration flows, framing student and trade union demonstrations in France as a byproduct of uncontrolled immigration.
“Europe Has to Change”
“They send them, they walk in, they come from all over the world—from countries with massive problems,” Trump stated, calling on European governments to drastically overhaul their border security and asylum systems. He argued that the lack of response to situations like Ceuta proves that “Europe needs to fundamentally change the way it does things.”
