“A Thief and Freedom-Killer”: Milei Slams Sánchez and Accuses Him of Authoritarianism
The diplomatic and ideological clash between Buenos Aires and Madrid has reached a new high point of tension. Argentine President Javier Milei has intensified his attacks against Pedro Sánchez following his recent visit to the Spanish capital, accusing the socialist leader of corruption, authoritarianism, and institutional overreach.
The libertarian president claimed that Sánchez “is a thief facing hundreds of corruption allegations who spends all day trying to interfere with the judiciary,” explicitly referencing the ongoing legal troubles surrounding the Spanish Prime Minister’s inner circle.
The fierce rhetoric comes just one day after Milei referred to Sánchez as an “unpresentable dictator” during an address at the Nueva Economía Fórum, where he also accused the Spanish government of exploiting the border crisis in Ceuta for political gain.
Comparison to Kirchnerism and Institutional Control
Analyzing Spain’s political climate, Milei labeled Sánchez a “freedom-killer” and argued that he exhibits “every trait of an authoritarian leader” by exerting influence over both Parliament and the judiciary.
The Argentine leader drew a direct parallel between the current Spanish administration and the rule of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner in Argentina, asserting that both movements share a common strategy of consolidating power to enrich themselves.
A “Cultural Battle” for Western Values
Undeterred by official condemnations from Madrid or social media jabs—where Sánchez shared a song by Argentine pop star Lali Espósito, a prominent critic of the libertarian administration—Milei refused to tone down his message. The Argentine leader stood by his aggressive approach, dismissed friction with local media, and framed his visit to Spain as part of a broader ideological mission against global socialism.
“It is my moral duty to warn about the dangers of 21st-century socialism,” Milei declared following meetings with top figures from the right-wing party Vox and the Disenso Foundation, pledging to carry on the political fight “with his boots on.”
