Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently stated that Ukraine “is in a position” to win the war against Russia, provided it has the support of Europe, and that it could also reclaim the territory Moscow has occupied since the beginning of the conflict.
In a message posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “With time, patience, and financial support from Europe, and particularly from NATO, recovering the original borders from where this war began is a viable option. Why not?” The former president emphasized that Russia has been fighting ineffectively for more than three and a half years in a war that, in his view, a true military power should have won in less than a week.
Trump once again highlighted Russia’s economic struggles, assuring that it will not be long before the Russian people understand “the true nature of this war.” He added that Ukraine could not only regain its country in its original form but, “who knows, maybe even go further,” suggesting the possibility that Kiev could consolidate or even expand its influence if circumstances allow. In this regard, the tycoon insisted that “it’s time” for Ukraine to act decisively.
Furthermore, Trump noted that Moscow’s inability to achieve a quick victory has made it appear “like a paper tiger.” He concluded by saying, “In any case, I wish both countries the best. We will continue to supply NATO with weapons so that it can do whatever it wants with them,” reaffirming his support for the alliance and its strategic autonomy.
