Newtral will produce podcasts for Atresmedia’s new audio platform
Countdown to the launch of Sonora, Atresmedia’s new podcast platform. Although there is still no confirmed launch date, the media group expects it to take place in the coming weeks.
Atresmedia has been working on this project for more than a year and a half with Animal Makers, the production company of radio journalist Toni Garrido, former presenter of the programme Asuntos Propios on Radio Nacional de España and Hoy por hoy on Cadena SER. Garrido is heading the project.
According to DIRCOMFIDENCIAL, Sonora will produce its own content and that of other external production companies such as Newtral, directed by journalist Ana Pastor, which already has experience in sound production, with the creation of podcasts such as Plata o Plomo, a space in which Pastor and journalist Fernando Berlín analyse current affairs and politics through series, or ¿Quién dice qué?, where they report on politics, technology and the economy in a relaxed way.
Sources close to Atresmedia say that Sonora will have an innovative visualisation, developed by the same designers of the Filmin streaming film platform, and will allow – unlike other well-known podcast platforms in Spanish – the possibility of sharing specific fragments of podcasts with third parties, in the same way that Youtube has enabled for its videos. Access to content will be paid for, with a subscription cost of around five euros per month.
Atresmedia joins Prisa, Abside Media, Grupo Godó and Unidad Editorial among the media groups that have committed to this genre and the second -after Prisa’s Podium Podcast- that has created an exclusive platform to host them.
