One dead and ten injured in knife attack in Liverpool
A man armed with a knife was arrested after a serious incident in Southport (Liverpool). At least ten people, including several children, were stabbed and one person was killed. The Merseyside police reported they were responding to a “major incident” at a property in the coastal town. However, they also talked about “multiple victims reported.”
The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed that they treated ten people with stab wounds. They were taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, and Southport and Formby Hospital. Emergency services were alerted about a stabbing with a knife on Hart Street in the locality of Liverpool, around 11:50 am on Monday. Armed police arrested a man and confiscated a knife at the scene. The detainee was taken to a police station. No further threat to the public was perceived, according to the police.

NWAS indicated that paramedics were responding to reports of “multiple stabbings” and deployed 13 ambulances, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an air ambulance, and Merit doctors to the scene. Neighbors told the Liverpool Echo that they heard sirens and saw an air ambulance land nearby and were advising each other to close windows and doors.
“Around 12:20, we heard many sirens and then a helicopter hovering,” said a woman. “Then messages started circulating in local WhatsApp groups, saying ‘close the windows, close the doors.’ We were told that a man was stabbing people.” Another neighbor commented, “We are all terrified, panicked, and worried; everyone is trying to contact anyone they know in the area. I don’t know how this can happen on a Monday lunchtime.”

Images from the scene showed dozens of people gathered around a police cordon that blocked much of the street, with numerous police cars and ambulances present. Emily Spurrell, Merseyside’s police and crime commissioner, said she was “deeply shocked and concerned by the serious incident in Southport.” She added that an arrest had been made and that there was no further threat to the public, urging citizens to be cautious with the information they share on social media.
