László Kövér is the President of the Hungarian National Assembly. He has reminded that the identity and culture of Hungary and Europe are “determined” by Christianity.
He was interview with the weekly magazine Szabad Föld. Kövér stated that Hungary inherited from King Saint Stephen “a stable state, capable of reinventing itself”. He added that “it has provided a framework for our lives and protected our national existence for more than a millennium.”
He also criticized the federalist direction of the European Union. “It is clear that today in Europe, they are trying to absorb all sovereign states to turn them into a United States of Europe.”
Thus, he added that Hungary must continue on the path it followed between 2012 and 2022. According to him, it was characterized by “continuous economic growth, increased employment, a rising birth rate, and cultural prosperity.”
