Within just 24 hours, authorities report that at least three individuals were stabbed in Notting Hill Carnival—one in critical condition—up to 90 people were arrested for various crimes, and about 15 police officers were attacked during the event, which escalated from a celebration to a confrontation.
Specifically, 30 arrests were made for drug possession, including four cases involving nitrous oxide. Additionally, 18 individuals were detained for carrying weapons, six for assault, and ten for attacking emergency workers. Other offenses included thefts, sexual crimes, and public order offenses.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Metropolitan Police Service reported three stabbings during the carnival. Among the victims was a 32-year-old woman who was hospitalized with severe injuries. Also injured were a 29-year-old man, who is not in critical condition, and a 24-year-old man, whose condition remains unknown.
Moreover, the festivities were also marked by violence against police officers, with 15 assaulted during the clashes. Fortunately, none sustained serious injuries. The police regretted that while the majority of attendees came to enjoy the festivities, a minority engaged in criminal and violent acts.
