The casualty count from the high-speed train collision in Urda, Toledo, continues to rise. Castilla-La Mancha Regional President Emiliano García-Page confirmed Thursday that the death toll has reached 69, following the death of another victim receiving intensive care in the hospital. The update was delivered following an operational review by the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi), which oversees emergency logistics and trauma response.

Consular Coordination and Foreign Casualties
The disaster has also triggered a broad international response. Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that at least 42 foreign nationals across seven countries were aboard the trains. Among the fatalities is an Argentine citizen, according to confirmation from authorities in Buenos Aires.
Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares’ department reported that ten foreign nationals escaped unharmed, seven remain hospitalized with injuries, and 24 are currently classified as unaccounted for or pending formal administrative verification. Spanish diplomatic authorities remain in continuous contact with the relevant embassies and consulates to expedite victim identification and provide consular support to affected families.
