YouPlanet exceeds €28m turnover and expects double-digit growth by 2023
YouPlanet Group celebrates its eighth anniversary with a 22% increase in turnover in 2022, exceeding 28 million euros. The forecasts for 2023 are also positive, as it expects to grow by more than double digits.
Luis de Val, CEO and founder of the group, points out that in these eight years “we have been able to evolve and diversify, always putting digital creators, clients and the public at the centre. The differentiating factor in our case is our commitment to authenticity and the proximity of our entertainment content, which is what the public is looking for and cannot find in other media and formats. What we never want to lose is that connection with audiences, especially with young audiences, who are demanding and constantly changing their codes. The 2022 results and the growth forecasts for 2023 prove us right,” says de Val.
With headquarters in Madrid and Barcelona, YouPlanet Group is made up of the Agency, Productions, Platforms and Pictures divisions. According to the company, it maintains a path of progression in all its business areas, bearing in mind that it is the only company in the sector with financial independence, which, they say, allows it “to be agile and maintain its essence”. Its aim is to continue in this way and to grow organically.
YouPlanet Agency is the influencer marketing division of the group and exceeded 12 million euros in turnover last year 2022, which represents a growth of more than 13% over the previous year. It currently works with more than 200 content creators, and its portfolio of represented companies has more than 60 exclusive partners, including some of the most influential in our country, such as Auronplay, the Buyer brothers and Angela Mármol, who have millions of followers on their social networks. The company guides them to optimise their publications and, at the same time, acts as an intermediary with the brands that support their contribution, which are increasingly numerous. It is worth highlighting, for example, YouPlanet’s latest collaborations with LaLiga, Vinted, Play Station, Santalucia, PortAventura, Nestlé and Idilia, among others. The division carries out around 200 campaigns per month on different platforms, which translates into the publication of more than a thousand pieces of content per month.
The influencer agency closed 2022 with 100 professionals and in the first quarter of this year alone it had already incorporated 20 new collaborators.
A specialisation in the influence sector reinforced by the Platforms team, which, with a turnover of 6 million euros, stands out for offering consultancy, optimisation, security, protection and monetisation services on the main platforms on the market, as well as the search for opportunities in relation to them.
YouPlanet Production exceeded 2 million euros in turnover, 21% more than the previous year. This division, launched in 2016, specialises in the creation, editing and production of digital content for various formats and fictions for different platforms, from Twitch to linear television, producing for the main audiovisual groups in Spain such as RTVE, Atresmedia TV and Corporació Catalana de Ràdio i Televisió, as well as for platforms such as Amazon Prime.
YouPlanet Group is also dedicated to the distribution of independent films. Its Pictures division, which started up in 2018, last year exceeded €8 million in turnover, up 38% on 2021. It currently occupies the top positions in Spanish independent distribution. In 5 years, this business unit has gone from having the rights to 10 films to having more than 260 in its portfolio. The company releases between 40 and 60 titles a year between platforms, television and cinema.
New business units and reinforced structure
With the aim of continuing to grow, YouPlanet Group has created two new business units: Business Development – focused on driving the expansion of the company and its creators by identifying new alliances and collaborations; and Content Services – whose focus is to turn brands into content creators themselves through their own channels. Innovation Lab, a space created ad hoc to promote new projects with the aim of exploring new areas of innovation within the sector, should also be added to this.
The 2022 financial year also saw the reinforcement of the management team. Dani Viladecans, CFO; Natalia Ruiz, Director of People & Workplace; Carlos Macho, as new CMO; Attilio Magurano, Deputy Director & Director of YouPlanet’s Influence Agency, and María Luisa Jiménez Molero, as Client Services Director at YouPlanet, joined the project.
After 8 years of history and starting this journey with a team of 5 employees, the YouPlanet Group currently has a staff of 100 professionals. And only in the first quarter of the year 2023 it had already incorporated 20 new collaborators.
