Ilunion Hotels achieves a turnover of 140M with sustainability as its banner
The Ilunion Hotels chain bid farewell to 2022 with the achievement of different memorable milestones. The ONCE Foundation’s business project closed the year with a turnover of 140.3 million euros, almost doubling the turnover it achieved in 2021, which was 74.5 million. Apart from the great economic balance obtained, 2022 has gone down in the company’s history as the first year in which it integrated sustainability as the backbone of its ambitious strategic plan.
But making progress in sustainability is neither simple nor economical, which is why Alejandro Oñoro’s chain invested 12.3 million euros in its strategy to adapt the company to the new needs. As stated in the first sustainability reports, the hotel has allocated 938,240 euros to social investment in particular.
One of its most powerful policies is based on the company’s commitment to training. Therefore, Ilunion Hotels earmarked 185,000 euros for the Formando Ilunion project, the aim of which is to integrate training and learning in each of the Group’s companies in the People Management and Talent Development Department.
In parallel, another of the hotel company’s achievements in the previous year was the design of a supplier approval system based on environmental, social and governance criteria. And, for this year, the company has proposed to reinforce this system through the commitment to suppliers aligned with sustainability criteria.
With the aim of increasing its presence in the Spanish market, the company has added accommodations to its portfolio. In order to fulfil its growth strategy, Alejandro Oñoro’s chain added the Ilunion San Sebastián and Ilunion San Mamés hotels last year, to which it added the new Ilunion Les Corts, in Barcelona, and Ilunion Costa Sal, in Lanzarote, in the last financial year.
Following these hotel incorporations, Ilunion Hotels now has 30 hotels in 14 destinations in Spain. This has made it a benchmark in the hotel sector, thanks to its unique and inclusive business model. In order to achieve leadership, they carry out an integral management based on three fundamental pillars: an honest relationship with their stakeholders, Good Governance based on ethics and a responsible supply chain.
Ilunion promotes a fully inclusive model in which 58% of the workforce is made up of women.
Undoubtedly, one of the characteristics that best defines Ilunion Hotels is that all the areas into which it is divided are aligned with a single, incredible purpose: “to build a better world with everyone included”.
In this sense, the workforce that makes up the hotel chain is made up of 1,405 employees, 44% of whom are people with disabilities. And, increasing this number is one of the major objectives on the table, which is why, of the 1,053 new hires in 2022, 459 were people with disabilities and 86 from vulnerable groups.
