Mediterránea Group expects sales to soar to over 300 million euros
Grupo Mediterránea, a mass catering company, closed 2022 with a turnover of 260 million euros. This figure represents an increase of 15% compared to 225 million euros in 2019, just before the start of the pandemic.
This figure can be explained thanks to the Mediterránea Group’s ability to maintain its client portfolio and services, as well as the award of new contracts, especially in educational centres, but also in hospitals and corporate environments. Thus, throughout this year the company’s portfolio has increased by 10%, with nearly 150 new centres, bringing its total portfolio to more than 1,300 centres.
It has also recorded a 10% increase in staff numbers, from 10,400 employees in 2021 to around 11,500 by the end of 2022. The company now exceeds the average of 250,000 meals served per day.
“The solid results we have recorded are the result of the excellent work of our teams. Thanks to them, we have overcome the difficulties that have arisen throughout the year, such as inflationary pressure, rising production costs and supply chain problems. Without their daily effort and dedication, this great performance would not have been possible,” says Mario Muñoz, CEO of Grupo Mediterránea.
As a target for the coming year, the company expects turnover to increase by up to 15% in 2023 compared to the figures recorded last year, which would mean revenues of approximately 300 million euros.
In 2022, the Mediterránea Group has stood out for the incorporation of 28 new social and healthcare centres in the city of Zaragoza.
On the other hand, it has also broadened the horizons of its international projection with its entry into Portugal, where it will provide its services in more than forty centres in the educational and hospital sector, where it will serve 14,600 menus a day. Through this operation, Portugal will be the third country in the company’s international network, which already provided services in Chile and Peru, as well as Spain.
