Marine Le Pen Leads New Poll with Five-Point Advantage Over Leftist Coalition
The candidacy of Renaissance, the party of French President Emmanuel Macron, has improved its voting intention by four points for the June 30 elections, although it still remains far from the figures of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen’s party, according to a recent poll.
While French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal would achieve 22% of the votes, the proposal led by Jordan Bardella is ahead of the voters’ preferences, with 34%. This leadership reaffirms the strong position of the National Rally in the French political landscape.
Leftist coalition remains behind Le Pen’s party
According to this poll conducted for the newspaper ‘Le Figaro’ and other French media, the New Popular Union — the far-left coalition — ranks second in voter preference with 29% of the votes. This figure reflects a close competition between the main political forces in the country.
Renaissance’s candidacy has seen a significant improvement, increasing its voting intention by four points. However, this rise is still not enough to surpass the two main contenders, the National Rally and the New Popular Union.
The poll, with a margin of error around 2.3 points, also anticipates an increase in turnout to 64%, fifteen points above the 2022 elections. This increase suggests greater interest and mobilization of the electorate in these early legislative elections.
Youth participation in the elections
Additionally, the participation of young people aged 18 to 24 is estimated at 53%, while 49% of those aged 25 to 34 are expected to go to the polls. These data indicate notable participation among young voters, a key demographic group for the country’s political future.
President Macron announced his decision to dissolve the National Assembly earlier this month and call early legislative elections after his historic debacle in the European elections. This decision has reshaped the political scene, leading to intense competition among the main parties.
In summary, the latest poll places Marine Le Pen’s party in a prominent position, with a five-point advantage over the far-left coalition, while Macron’s party shows an improvement in voting intention but remains behind the leaders. Voter turnout is expected to be significantly higher than in previous elections, with notable engagement from young voters.
