This incident occurred in Paris as the city was preparing to conclude the Olympic Games. Police started escorting visitors out around 3:30 PM, although a group was briefly trapped on the second floor for half an hour before they could leave.
While the Eiffel Tower played a key role in the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony is set to take place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, starting at 9:00 PM.
The climber was eventually arrested, according to police sources reported by the French network BFMTV.
