Bardella pledges to expel criminal immigrants, audit Macron’s finances and increase authority in classrooms
On Monday, the National Rally presented its key political priorities for potentially taking power following the legislative elections. Recent polls indicate that they are nearing an absolute majority. Their platform focuses on addressing insecurity caused by immigration and thoroughly reviewing the current financial system to rectify what they describe as “irresponsible” accounts.
Jordan Bardella, the leader of the National Rally, aims to become the Prime Minister of a future “national unity” government. He outlined the party’s program alongside his colleague Marine Le Pen and the President of The Republicans, Éric Ciotti.
Stringent Immigration Controls
Central to their program is the “control” of immigration. Bardella advocates for the expulsion of foreign criminals, the reinstatement of the crime of “illegal residence,” and extending administrative detention periods beyond three months. He also aims to “convince” Macron to hold a referendum on immigration.
Bardella criticized the far-left’s immigration policies, stating, “The far-left’s program is an acceleration of mass immigration that would cause suffering and violence. This program would lead to unprecedented saturation of our public services and an unprecedented deterioration of French identity on its own territory.”
Bardella has promised to “place authority at the center of public action,” calling for the prosecution of repeat offenders and penalizing parents of minors who commit crimes. If the National Rally wins, authority will also be restored in classrooms with a “zero tolerance” policy against disruptive students. This includes generalizing the use of uniforms, banning mobile phones, and establishing a “modular” education system to guide students toward vocational training earlier.
Reviewing the current finances
Furthermore, Bardella criticized the “irresponsible” finances of current President Emmanuel Macron, proposing a “national audit” to address the “unprecedented budgetary excesses.” He concluded, “The French have the right to know how the state spends their money.”
In summary, the National Rally’s platform emphasizes strict immigration controls, enhancing authority in public and educational spheres, and financial accountability through audits. Bardella’s vision for a national unity government seeks to address these key areas in response to current challenges.
