Sunset Hospitality Group opens in Spain with a Greek restaurant in Ibiza
Sunset Hospitality Group (SHG), the leading Dubai-based hospitality group known for creating lifestyle experiences through hotels, beach clubs and restaurants, has landed in Spain with its first restaurant, Ammos Greek Restaurant & Beach in Platja d’en Bossa (Ibiza).
This second opening of the brand, which follows the success of its first location in Dubai, will open its doors to the public on the Pitiusa Island on Monday 19th June. Ammos’ next destinations will be in Doha and in what will be the group’s second major venture in Spain, METT Hotel & Beach Resort Marbella Estepona.
For Greeks, food is much more than food. Food is culture, it is family time, it is a key moment full of experiences with tradition at its core. With this starting point, the Ammos team immerses itself in Ibiza and presents a gastronomic proposal based on the authentic Greek recipe book composed of dishes that will reflect its Mediterranean personality. Extraordinary ingredients and products will be revealed through smells and flavours in a relaxed atmosphere that will invite you to enjoy and have fun.
The philosophy of Ammos is explained through the Greek word Meraki which is used to describe the fact of doing something with soul, to put the heart, to leave a mark on everything that passes through our hands. Meraki is the essence and the meaning of Ammos and the client will perceive it through the gastronomic proposal, the interior design and the energy of the place.
Authentic Greek food
Antoni Melas, Executive Chef of Ammos Greek Restaurant & Beach has over twenty years of international experience in five star hotels and top restaurants in Greece. Melas, born in Piraeus (Greece’s largest port) will be responsible for introducing Ammos to traditional Greek cuisine and his passion for it.
Passionate about seafood, respectful of quality produce and a lover of the traditional recipe, the executive chef is a firm believer in the love of what he does and a commitment to continuous growth and learning. With a drive to keep surprising himself and trying new flavours, coupled with a mindset of taking nothing for granted, Antonis’ experimental approach is the key to his unstoppable success. At Ammos Ibiza, Melas proposes a return to the Greek family recipe, to the simplicity of the pure flavours he grew up with. In this sense, and betting on the honest product as the basis of his cuisine, the proposal will change daily depending on the wild fish and the market. The sea rules and writes its own menu in this restaurant with its own identity.
The brand is planning to grow in Spain
In line with Ammos Dubai, the Ibiza restaurant will feature a menu full of freshness and authenticity, celebrating the culture of the Mediterranean country through a unique culinary heritage. Diners will find an authentic Greek experience on the Balearic island through fresh fish, seafood and typical Greek dishes such as mezze, mousaka and orzo pasta, among others.
The luminous premises will be divided into two areas with a markedly Mediterranean interior design. In the main dining room, with seating for 140 diners, the polished stone floors stand out. Traditional whitewashed walls, spectacular bougainvillea and light-coloured wooden furniture will transport diners to the heart of the Greek islands.
For those who choose to take in the Mediterranean views and enjoy the beachfront setting in a more relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant will offer a hammock area where you can also enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.
